Catherine Elizabeth Wallendorf died on May 16, 2024, and was welcomed home to the Lord. She was born in Meppen, Illinois in Calhoun County on October 31, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary Pluester who died when she was young. Catherine was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Rosati-Kain High School in St. Louis in 1951. While in school she worked as an aide at Firmin Desloge Hospital (now Saint Louis University Hospital). She met her husband Wayne John Wallendorf in Calhoun County while he was on leave from the Army. They wed on October 9, 1954 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Meppen. Catherine and Wayne moved (from Wood River) to Godfrey, Illinois where they raised their four children. She was a skilled homemaker, seamstress, gardener, cook, a wonderful wife and mother.
