Marie D. Held Brussels - Marie (Mossman) Held, 104, of Brussels, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, with her family at her side. Marie was born on July 20, 1920, in Golden Eagle, Illinois, and was the youngest daughter of Louis Mossman and Mary (Horman) Mossman. Marie grew up in Golden Eagle and the surrounding area. She graduated from Brussels High School the class of 1938. After graduation, Marie was employed at John Held's grocery store until her marriage. Marie married Robert "Bob" Held, the love of her life, on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1939, at St. Mary's Church in Brussels, IL. They were blessed with four children Robert of Brussels, IL, Sharon of Roundup, MT, James of Alton, IL, and Barbara of Decatur, IL. Marie was a very active member of St. Mary's Church serving as a sactristin for many years. She was also a 50+ year member of the Altar Society serving in various positions.
